Camping at Brainard Lake, CO

July 2009

So we went camping about an hour from our home at Brainard Lake. It was beautiful. We didn't document anything but the lake, so no tent or food pictures. We didn't make a reservation, so we drove camp ground to campground trying to find a spot. None. We ended up finding a site up a state road that allowed free squaters campsites. SO we found a flat spot and camped. It was fun. Much colder than Moab camping. Poor Lexie ended up in my sleeping bag and I ended up with Lauren because my mummy bag was not big enough for me and a baby. It was really cute in the middle of the night, Lauren woke up to me right there in her face, and she, in a sleepy state, said this sleeping bag is made for two. And then fell promptly back to bed. It didn't have bathrooms or a table, so for each meal we would drive up to the lake. There were tons of fishermen and a lot of hikers to go up to the glacier.
Here is Kurt and Lexie in our favorite pose

Can you believe the view? Lauren can't. (zoom in:)

New Family Photo, you may see this again coming Christmas.

So in the middle of the Lake was a HUGE boulder that we all climbed on. It was fun but the water was soooooo cold. Jumping the rocks, your feet were numb and then you had to warm them up before climbing. Glacier Lakes are cold, this one much more than bear lake in Utah.
