Santa

At the ward Christmas party we got to see Santa. Lauren really wants areal pink horsey you can ride and doesn't seem to care that we have no place to put the pet. She thinks Santa will take care of it.:) I love her Christmas spirit. Heather is excited and loves to look at all the presents under the tree she isn't as specific about what she wants. I think she will be happy with anything as long as its a toy. And Alexis didn't scream her head off when Santa held her. Thats a good sign right?:)

The first snow that stuck

Not a lot of snow..... but enough to take hours getting ready for 15 minutes of fun. Kurt helped make the cute little man.

Thanksgiving

We hosted our first thanksgiving this year. It was really fun, and shockingly relaxing. We had Megan's brother and then our German friends Sven and Wibke.

This was Megan's pride and joy. We brined our turkey before cooking it and it turned out great. The turkey had a good flavor and was really juicy. We got the recipe from food network and we will use again. Since it was our first thanksgiving that we hosted we did a test turkey the week before. So needless to say we have lots of frozen turkey at our house.

Here is our table. Heather and Lauren made the cutest place settings of a turkey made out of different colored fingerprints. We used my stamps and they turned out cute. Thane was in charge of a thankful activity where we created a turkey out of a box and then filled it with papers that had things we were thankful for on them. After dinner we played games and then looked through all the ads. It was the first year we didn't get up early on black friday and it was so liberating!!
It was fun being the host. Thane brought me flowers and wibke chocolates as well as this onsie for Alexis.

Halloween Night

Alexis, Heather, and Lauren after a night of trick o treating. Kurt took Heather and Lauren out trick or treating and when lauren got tired he dropped her off and kept going with Heather. We have lots of candy still!

Lexie was a cat for halloween. I was too cheap to buy a whole costume for one day, so I bought a hat at Target for $1. Anyway I didn't try it on until Halloween and it didn't fit her. I think it was made for a premie. One size fits all..whatever! Anyway I cut a slit in the back and tried again...Still too small. I kept doing it until I was to the top of the hat. So that is why the hat looks so funny in the picutres. It isn't on her head, it is just draped across it. That is what I get for pinching pennies.:) Hope you all had a good halloween.

Lexie is 4 months

I can't believe how fast time has gone! My baby is 4 months old. Here are some pictures. She is doing well. She is 15 lbs and laughing and smiling all the time. She holds her head at a tilt all the time and so we are in therapy to correct the muscles. Here are some pictures. She is always sleeping in the carseat or stroller when we are places so she misses out on pictures. SO here are some of just her.

We have our niece living with us. Her name is Heather and she is six years old. Lauren and her get along well and we have been having a good time celebrating Halloween together. Here are some raking leaves pictures.

Carving Pumpkins

We planted pumpkin seeds in our garden and shocker... the grew. We had about 4 to carve and then for a preschool trip Lauren went to a farm and picked 3 more. Needless to say we had more than enough pumpkins. All the neighbors enjoyed carving them with us.

Free Day at the Zoo

So Kurt and I have taken advantage of all the free days Denver has to offer, but I think we will think again when doing the zoo. It was so crazy. I have never seen so many people in one area before. It was fun and miserable.. opps! I mean..memorable... and that is what matters right??

This elephant was so tame and never moved a muscle the whole time we stood there and took the pictures. The trainers must have worked hard with him, the best part about him is he didn't stink like the other elephants!:)


During our lunch we saw a mommy peacock and her two babies. They were not jumpy around us and Kurt even shared his sandwich with the little one.

Sisters

It is fun having two girls. Alexis is now 3 months and a little tougher and not as interesting to her sister. Lauren is a big help and can make Lexie giggle where Megan cannot. I took some pictures of the girls together. Alexis is fourteen pounds and even sitting Lauren couldn't support the weight. Alexis doesn't look too comfortable but never complains.

Lauren kept kissing Lexie and I thought it was adorable but I kept missing the shot. So I had her do it again and again. She doesn't understand "freeze" So she would kiss I would take the picture, she would pull away and the camera would take. Try again... same thing. They were both patient until I finally got the shot!

Fall Colors

We went out to look for fall colors last weekend with Megan's brother Thane. It was really fun, but we didn't see much color. The most popular color changing tree in the rocky mountains is the Aspen, which changes to gold. So when you go up in the mountains you see green and gold. Natives call the changing leaves "colorado gold." So anyway, we wanted to experience it so I got on the local news channel's website and got the best drive to see the leaves. It was a long drive so we didn't get it all in and most of the drive only had pines, it wasn't until we got higher into the mountains that we started to see some gold. It was beautiful but it made me miss Logan and the red leaves in the Canyon. We did see a bunch of deer and a jumping trout. Also Thane went back to his Boy scout days and showed us an herb that has numbing properties. I guess Native Americans used to chew it to relieve tooth aches. Thane failed to mention the numbing properties when he offered it to Megan and her mouth was numb a good part of the ride home.:)

Cute Sayings

So last week we were driving as a family and I asked kurt, who was at the back of the van, if he wanted the A/C on. Kurt answered no, but then Lauren said " I want the ABC on." So cute. I love that they use what they know.

Alexis has found her voice and loves talking to us. It is so cute that she talks and then waits for our response before talking again. Such a gifted child. :)

The Lake Country

So on the western part of Rocky Mountain National Park is Lake country. We passed 4 lakes on the way in. It was so fun. This is Lauren in front of Shadow Mountain Lake, we had a picnic there.

We took a .6 mile hike to Adams Falls. Wow we are out of shape!! Lauren hiked with Kurt and I carried Alexis. In our defense it was up hill both ways. :) Well worth the walk.

Labor Day Weekend

On Labor Day weekend we went to Winter Park, CO and relaxed. Lauren and Kurt went on the alpine slide and then Lauren and I played mini golf. It was a fun weekend. We then drove through Rocky Mountain National Park. The road that drives through the peaks was open. It was a beautiful drive. At the highest point you are about 12,000 ft above sea level. It was beautiful and amazing. We saw a ton of elk and we think a moose sleeping under a tree. At least that is what everyone with binoculars said.

Lauren's first day of school

Lauren started preschool on the Tuesday after Labor day. So far she is really liking it. She loves that she gets to go all by herself and I am loving the time to get things done. Here is a picture of her first day. Her shoes are in the car, I didn't make her go without them.:)

Smiling Alexis

Alexis is smiling, but it is impossible to catch her on camera or video. Today the planets and stars must have aligned and I got her smiling on camera! It was really cute and I hope this video does it justice. She is 8 weeks this weekend.

Just Kids

Kurt's work just had a party at a local boondocks. It was fun we had dinner and then got 3 hours of unlimited games and go karts. You should have seen our "booty" from all our ticket winnings, all the toys broke within 5 minutes, but oh well it wasn't our money!:) Here are some cute pictures.

Lauren was too small to ride the big go karts with Kurt, but they had little karts for the kids. She could run the gas pedal but steering was too much. The attendant ran her around. She had a lot of fun until she hit a curb and hit her chin on the pillowed steering wheel. It wasn't hard at all, but enough to scare her.

Here are two pictures of my other big kid. He has terrible road rage in this picture beware! I was going to go, but the weather turned rainy and really cold for august.

Carrot Boy and his mutant brothers

So our garden has been doing really well. We have eaten some and thrown away other stuff, but the point is that it has grown!! Anyway two days ago Kurt decided that it was time to harvest the carrots. The green tops are growing out of control and he was positive they were done. Here is a picture of the green tops.
They are in the top right corner. Anyway big, long, luscious carrots tops. "Mmmmm. Can't wait to harvest and eat gigantic, delicious carrots." So Kurt pulls them all up at once and this is what we grew....
Sadly these do not even qualify as "baby carrots" Teeny tiny carrots. Lauren likes to eat them. They are so cute.... except for the last one... we have named him "Carrot boy the mutant" He is genetically superior to his brothers in every way. Here is a close up to our creation. It may seem like a fuzzy picture but that is just a side effect to photographing a mutant. We are going to create the new and upcoming series called the Baby Mutant Ninja Carrots. Featuring Carrot Boy the Mutant and his nine ninja brothers. Its a work in progress. In fact I would be surprised if it even has a pilot.

Blessing Day

We were able to bless Alexis while visiting my family in Idaho. It was really special since family could be there where it wouldn't be that way in Colorado. Here are some pictures.
